After a nationwide search, the Port of Everett Commission has selected Les Reardanz to serve as the new CEO.

Reardanz will begin his new role at the Port on November 16. Currently, he serves as the Port’s Deputy Executive Director, the second highest staff leadership position at the Port. He oversees the Port’s environmental cleanups, public policy, communications, human resources, legal and contacting activities. In addition to his civilian duties, Reardanz is a Captain in the Naval Reserve and is the Commanding Officer, US Pacific Fleet reserve legal command that advises the Pacific Fleet and its subordinate commands.

“This is the very best decision and action not only for our community, but all of Snohomish County,” Port Commissioner Glen Bachman said.

“We have so many big projects going on, so it makes sense to bring Les on board because he has been involved with all these projects,” Port Commissioner Tom Stiger. “He also has the support of the staff, and I think that is important.”

“I was looking for a candidate that had strong leadership experience, could execute our market-ready business strategies, had good communication skills and experience in port management,” Port Commissioner Troy McClelland said. “Les had all these qualities, and I look forward to him serving as our next executive director.”

Reardanz has more than 20 years of leadership experience. Prior to coming to the Port in 2011, Reardanz served as the municipal legal advisor at the city of Bellingham. He was also the project manager for the city’s Waterfront District Development, which is a joint effort with the Port of Bellingham.

“I am very honored to have been chosen for CEO of the Port of Everett. The Port is a valuable community asset, we have an amazing Port team, and I look forward to all the great things we are going to achieve,” Reardanz said. “I also want to thank John for being such a great port mentor and friend. Through his leadership, he has set the stage for us to realize the Commission’s strategic initiatives.”

Reardanz received his B.A. in History from the University of California Davis in 1987 and his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles in 1990. He is able to practice law in the states of Washington and California (inactive) and before the United States Supreme Court, as well as other various federal and military courts. He is married and has two children.

Reardanz will step in for outgoing CEO John Mohr who retires in January.
