Everett May Allow Hotel Signs at The Top of Buildings in Downtown Area

September 1, 2014

Downtown Everett, Everett

Hampton Inn Everett

The Hampton Inn wants to put its name in lights at the top of the hotel.

Currently the City of Everett zoning code prohibits signage in the downtown Everett area above the street level. Recently developers of the newly opened Hampton Inn at Wall and West Marine View Drive and the developers of the proposed Courtyard by Marriott Hotel at Colby and Wall have asked the city to change the code to allow signage at the top of their buildings so people can find their properties easier. Both also say their franchise agreements require signage above street level. On Tuesday night the Everett Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to discuss changing the zoning code to allow such signs. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm in the Everett City Council Chambers at 3002 Wetmore. You can also see the meeting on Everett TV. Once the planning commission makes a recommendation, the issued would still have to go before the Everett City Council for approval.
