At about 2:11 a.m. on July 20, 2014, Everett firefighters were dispatched to 801 75th St. SE. for a report of an apartment fire.
A woman sleeping in the first floor apartment woke to smoke in her apartment. She quickly woke her two children and escaped from the apartment. She then went to the second floor apartment to alert her neighbors and call 911.

The first firefighters to arrive saw fire coming from the first floor apartment bedroom window. The fire spread to the floors above and attic area where firefighters were able stop the fire.
About 35 residents were displaced and received assistance from the Red Cross. Two cats are confirmed deceased. No other reported injuries.
The apartment building sustained severe fire and water damage and will not be reoccupied. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
