WSP Issues Name and Photo of Attempted Carjacker From I-5 in Everett Monday
If you see William Westmoreland, call 9-1-1.
It was a wild scene on southbound Interstate 5 just south of 112th street in Everett Monday afternoon. According to Trooper Mark Francis from the Washington State Patrol, shortly before 3pm a motorcycle was seen driving erratically on southbound I-5 when the rider drove directly into the back of a car. The bike went down and when citizens tried to render assistance to the rider, who appeared to be injured, he fought with them and attempted to carjack a woman’s vehicle with two children inside. She fought him off and he ran away. Francis says the man then stole a Mazda Miata. While they have yet to locate the suspect he apparently left his identification at the scene. Tonight Francis issued a picture of the attempted carjacker he identified as 38-year-old William Westmoreland from Stanwood. He’s possibly driving a silver or black Mazda Miata If you see him you’re asked to call 9-1-1.
