Snohomish County Airport – Paine Field is a major general aviation and industrial airport with a stable and diverse tenant base. Snohomish County is twelve miles north of Seattle, Washington, and is located between the sparkling waters of Puget Sound and the snow-capped peaks of the Cascade Mountains. The quality of life is heavily influenced by the spectacular scenery and the temperate climate that encourages year-round outdoor fun. The county has major urban centers, historic villages, rural retreats and seaside ports. With a population of approximately 730,000, it is one of the largest and fastest growing counties in Washington. Everett is home to Paine Field and is the largest city in the county with a population of over 100,000. 

Paine Field has three runways accommodating aircraft up to a 747, and has Cat 1 ILS, FAR Part 139 certification and full FBO services. Paine Field is served by a FAA Air Traffic Control Tower and has precision and non-precision instrument approaches. The airport is home to the Boeing manufacturing plant for 747, 767, 777, and 787 aircraft, as well as Aviation Technical Services, the largest third-party aircraft inspection and repair facility in North America.

Reporting to the County Executive Director, the Airport Director plans, coordinates, supervises and manages the operation, maintenance and development of the county aviation facility located at Paine Field. There are 50 FTEs plus seasonal employees. The annual operating budget is $18 million/year. Capital budgets vary with projects and have been as large as $50 million/year.

A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or other field directly related to airport management and 6 years of management experience in aviation or public facilities. Or, any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
