Suspected DUI Driver Sends Pedestrian Off 41st Street Overpass in Everett
The scene from a DOT camera at 41st street
No major injuries but a scary scene as a vehicle hit a jersey barrier and sent pedestrian over a 30 foot drop at the 41st Street overpass over I-5 Sunday night. Everett Police spokesman Aaron Snell tells MyEverettNews.com that shortly after 10pm a car was going westbound on 41st street when it swerved off the roadway and hit a jersey barrier where two bicyclists were sitting. One of the bicyclists, a 16-year-old Everett boy, went over the barrier and fell approximately 50 feet to the roadway below. The boy was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center to be checked for injuries but Snell said they did not appear to be life threatening. The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man from Everett, was also taken to the hospital. Snell said after he is checked out he’s expected to be booked into the Snohomish County jail on suspicion of DUI. The off ramp from I-5 to 41st street was closed for about an hour while police processed the crash scene.
