Everett, Police Blotter

Today Snohomish County Sheriff’s Spokesperson Shari Ireton released details of another death at the Snohomish County jail in downtown Everett…

Everett Jail

Today’s death is the 9th time in 4 years someone has died while in custody at the jail in downtown Everett

This morning at around 1:00 a.m., a 24 year-old female inmate was found unresponsive in her cell within the Snohomish County Jail medical unit. Medical personnel immediately began CPR and called for additional medical aid. Aid units responded to the jail but attempts to revive the inmate were unsuccessful and she died at the scene.

The inmate, an Everett resident, had been booked into the jail on January 7th by the Everett Police Department for violating a no contact order and obstruction. Jail personnel verified that the inmate had been screened medically when she was booked, as well routinely checked every half hour by personnel while being housed in the medical unit.

Following any inmate death, a morbidity review will be conducted. This is a review of the death from a clinical standpoint and is independent of the death investigation, which is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.

The identity of the inmate, as well as cause and manner of death, will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
