In a news conference that just concluded, Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson was joined by the mayors of Kent and Renton, Snohomish County Executive John Lovick, Former Snohomish County Executive Bob Drewel and Port of Everett Commissioner Troy McClelland in urging machinists members to vote yes on Friday to the revised contract proposal by Boeing. The group said they had a meeting with Boeing prior to the press conference and were told that if the vote on Friday is no, then the 777x wing work will definitely not be done in Puget Sound. Bob Drewel stated, “I cannot imagine that if the wing work is done elsewhere than the body won’t also be built in that location.” The leaders all urged machinists to vote yes saying this is about the future of the aerospace economy in not just Everett but the entire Puget Sound Region.
