The Everett City Council Wednesday night voted unanimously to expand the city’s Stay Out Of Drug and Stay Out Of Prostitution Areas (SODA,SOAP) as recommended by the Everett Police Department. The City Council has to update the areas every two years.

The Stay Out of Drug Areas are now…

  • 700 block through 1000 block of North Broadway and two blocks east and west of this area of North Broadway
  • 1000 block through 4100 block of Broadway and two blocks east and west of this area of Broadway
  • Evergreen Way from the 4700 block south to the Everett city limits and two blocks east and west of this area of Evergreen Way
  • West Casino Road between Evergreen Way and Airport Road  and two blocks north and south of this area of West Casino Road
  • Hewitt Avenue from the 1000 block to the 3200 block  and two blocks north and south of this area of Hewitt Avenue
  • 3200 block to the 3900 block of Smith Avenue and two blocks east and west of this area of Smith Avenue
  • 4000 block through the 4700 block of Rucker Avenue and two blocks east and west of this area of Rucker Avenue

The Stay Out of Prostitution Area are now…

  • 1100 block to the 4100 block of Broadway Avenue and two blocks east and west of this area of Broadway Avenue
  • Rucker Avenue/Evergreen Way from the 4000 block south to the Everett city limits and two blocks east and west
  • 1600 block of SE Everett Mall Way to the intersection of Evergreen Way and two blocks each side of Everett Mall Way
  • 8000 block of Broadway    (editors note, there is a bikini barista coffee stand in this particular block)

Persons who are ordered by an Everett Municipal Court judge to stay out of these areas are subject to arrest if found within these areas whether or not they are participating in or suspected of a crime. Just being present in the area while an order is in effect is enough to trigger an arrest. Everett Police say the expansion of the SODA and SOAP areas is a result of increased violations reported by officers on patrol as well as complaints from the public.
