Hollywood Back in Everett Shooting a New Movie

Architect Movie Stars

This is the second movie to be shot in Everett this year.

Got a press release today letting people who live on Rucker Avenue between 13th and 14th streets know there will be a film crew in their neighborhood on Monday. Here are all the details…

Shooting starts Monday on the second feature-length movie to be filmed in Everett this year. Crews will begin filming scenes for “The Architect,” a comedy starring Eric McCormack, Parker Posey and James Frain, and directed by Jonathan Parker.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the cast and crew to Everett,” said Lanie McMullin, the city’s executive director for economic development. “This is a very talented team, and we’re looking forward to seeing Everett on the big screen again.”

“The Architect” follows a married couple, played by McCormack and Posey, who hire an artistic, visionary architect to build their new house. However, they soon realize that the architect, played by Frain, is building his dream home, not theirs.

Filming starts Monday, Oct. 28, and will continue through mid-November. Much of the shooting will take place at private homes, but several scenes will be filmed in downtown Everett. Rucker Avenue will be closed to traffic between 13th and 14th streets on Monday for filming.

“Not only is it fun to see famous actors around Everett, but local restaurants and businesses always see a boost when a movie crew is in town,” said McMullin. She hopes to see more movies shot here in the future. “We offer a variety of landscapes, views and architecture, without the traffic hassles that often come with larger cities.”

Everett has been the backdrop for several major productions, including 2002’s “The Ring” and “The Fugitive” TV show. The movie “Seven Minutes” was filmed in Everett this past spring and is expected to hit theaters next year.

“The Architect” was written by Parker and Catherine di Napoli, who also collaborated on “(Untitled)” and “Bartleby.”

McCormack starred in “Will and Grace” and currently stars in television’s “Perception.” Posey is known for her roles in Christopher Guest’s comedies, such as “Best in Show” and “Waiting for Guffman,” as well as 2004’s “Laws of Attraction.” Frain starred in “Tron: Legacy,” and played Thomas Cromwell on Showtime’s “The Tudors.”
