Joseph Brooks is Seattle Artist.  He has lived and shown work in and around the Seattle Metro area for the past 8 years.  He is a member of Full Circle Gallery in The Greenwood Collective and Twilight Artist Collective in West Seattle ( www.twilightart.net ).  Joseph has displayed work during West Seattle Artwalk, White Center Artwalk, Phinneywood ArtUp,  Georgetown’s Art Attack, Blitz Capitol Hill, and at various Coffee Shops and Music venues in Seattle and Tacoma Area.  He says of his work “I just love to create.  I am a very hands on artist.  I have a love for the materials I use.  I love experimenting with new materials and finding new techniques.  I have been showing my characters and non-representational work recently.  I really enjoy working in different styles.  The non-rep work explores form and composition, color use and placement.  Because of the way I use large amounts of water in my washes nature takes over at some point in the process.  I like the organic feel of these paintings.  My character work also grows organically in a way.  I don’t usually have a plan, per say, when I start my face clusters.  I just let them come out as they come to me.  Some characters are based on friends, some are recurring, ultimately though it is a mash of expressions.  If there was one thing I could have viewers take away from this work is that life doesn’t have to be so serious.  Have fun and be happy.  The rest will fall into place.”

Joseph’s work can be found online at:  www.FacesAndStuff.com  http://flickr.com/josephbrooks

Featuring Cassandra Reed
Cassandra Reed will be the featured artist for July at Artspace Everett Lofts.  Ms. Reed is inspired from high style fashion to highlight her Native American heritage-her paintings are colorful, dramatic and provocative.  This artist finds beauty in the everyday.  An artist that lives her art!  Free of the ordinary, she dresses and comports herself much like her artwork.  You may have seen her on the streets of Everett with dramatic eye makeup, a Mohawk and thought provoking attire.

Cassie, as she is known, uses a mixture of media to bring a painting to life… finding the magic that is the soul of the art.  She will display her latest work in a month long showing with the opening event at Everett Art Walk.  Both original artwork and Fine Art Prints will be available for sale.  She maintains a blog at www.cassiereedartist.blogspot.com.  For other showing times contact the artist at pawzfull@gmail.com.
Visit We Are Art – the GALLERY and several of the artist studios at Artspace Everett Lofts, during the July 20th Everett ArtWalk event, 4-7PM.  2917 Hoyt Avenue, Everett.
