Local residents can look forward to neighborhoods dressed in bright red, white and blue colors this June and July: For the fifth year, local insurance agency, McClain Insurance Services in Everett, hosts its annual Flag Exchange program June 10th – 14th, 2013.

“We started this program in 2008 in honor of Flag Day. It is an effort to serve our community. Hundreds of Snohomish County residents have taken us up on the offer to exchange their flag, knowing that the retired flags would be disposed of respectfully by Boy Scouts in a public ceremony,” remembers Claudia McClain, the owner of McClain Insurance Services.

One story in particular stands out: A veteran brought in two flags, and kindly asked for two new flags in return. He explained: In his front yard, he had installed not one, but two flag poles; One for his household, and a second one in remembrance of his late companion in war. “What an honor to present this gentleman and humble servant of our country with two new US flags!” says Claudia McClain.

This year, citizens are invited to bring their worn, faded flags to the McClain Insurance office during the week of June 10th – 14th, 2013 from 9am to 5pm and receive a new Stars and Stripes free of charge.

The McClain Insurance office is located in the Silver Lake neighborhood just South of Costco.
