Parade at 11:00am, Fireworks at 10:20pm Click for full day’s schedule

While the City of Seattle is scrambling to put together a Fireworks show for the 4th of July and Naval Station Everett had to cut out ship tours due to budget cuts, the city of Everett is moving full speed ahead on its annual 4th of July Freedom Festival. The day starts with a parade thru the streets of downtown Everett at 11:00am. Then its food and live music at Legion Park beginning at 1:00pm with the Thunder on the Bay Fireworks display over Port Gardner Bay and the Everett Waterfront shortly after 10:00pm. Last year more than 8000 people attended the festival at Legion Park while thousands more lined the Everett waterfront.

City of Everett Public Information director Kate Reardon issued the following statement about today’s announcement by the Navy to cancel their annual 4th of July open house and ship tour: “We always enjoy and help promote when the Navy base open for public tours, but over the years the base had some years when they can participate and some years when they can not due to various factors. So, while we always enjoy having them as part of the celebration, we understand the situation and will continue to celebrate with pizzazz and style!”

The city is still looking for sponsors for the Thunder on The Bay Fireworks Display and is offering sponsors a chance to be on the grounds at Legion Park and interact with people attending the festival as well as receive sponsor mention during the radio simulcast of the Thunder on the Bay Fireworks display on Classic Country 1520 KXA. To learn more about available sponsorships contact Carol Thomas at 425-257-7101.
