On January 30, 2013, just after 4:30 p.m., Everett Police officers responded to 34th St and Lombard Ave on the report of shots fired. On arrival, officers were told a male and female had been involved in a disturbance. When the female ran from the male, he chased her with a knife and threatened to kill her. A bystander saw the incident and yelled for the male to stop. When the male continued chasing the female, the bystander was afraid the male catch and kill her. The bystander fired one shot into the air from his pistol. The male stopped chasing the female and was detained by several people until officers arrived.
The male, 48 years-old, was arrested and booked into Snohomish County Jail for unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon.
The female left the scene and was not identified.
The bystander, a 61 year-old Arlington man, was briefly detained at the scene for investigation. No criminal charges are expected to be filed against him.
The incident is being investigated to identify the female.
