Everett Police conduct a debriefing after a SWAT call out Saturday night

In response to many inquiries, yes there was a SWAT call-out Saturday night in north Everett. Around 9:30pm Saturday night Everett Police were called to a report of a distraught man in the 1700 block of Hoyt Avenue. He was making threats and officers surrounded a house and began talking with him as he became increasingly upset. Officers from around all parts of Everett responded to the north end and Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies assisted with calls in south Everett while Everett Police dealt with the man. SWAT was called out and an armored personnel carrier was parked in front of the house. Everett officers negotiated with the man over a bull horn. He finally came out of the house and police were able to take him into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The entire incident lasted about 3 hours. Hoyt was closed between 17th and 18th and a couple of houses near where the incident was going on were evacuated. No injuries to police or neighbors were reported and everything was back to normal in the neighborhood by around 1:00am.
