3 Alarm Fire in Downtown Everett Midnight Update and Photos

November 9, 2012

Downtown Everett, Everett Fire

Here’s what is known at this time about the fire at 1816 Hewitt. According to Eric Hicks with Everett Fire the first call came in at 9:26pm. A man in the apartments saw smoke coming out from under a door. He knocked on the door and got no answer. He opened the door and found smoke in the apartment. A woman from another apartment called 9-1-1. As first units arrived they saw smoke and a second alarm was called. Firefighters went into the building for a short time but efforts quickly became defensive and a third alarm was called.

There are 13 apartments in the upper floors of the building and below them are Hat Trick Pizza and Spare Room Vintage Market. At least 20 people were being assisted by the Red Cross and busses were brought to the scene to keep residents warm. Prior to the busses residents were let into the lobby of Comcast Arena across the street.

At this early stage no injures have been reported but it is not known if firefighters were able to check all the units before they had to pull out. Power to a major portion of downtown Everett has been cut off due to major power lines running thru the fire scene.
