Proposed Courtyard by Marriott at Colby and Wall Street in downtown Everett still in limbo

Back in February of this year Touchstone corporation of Seattle asked for a 9th extension of their building permit in order to start construction of a 156 room Courtyard by Marriott hotel at the corner of Wall and Colby in downtown Everett. At that time, Joe Polito, development manager for Touchstone explained to the Everett City Council that they were still 4.7 million dollars short on their equity funding. The Council voted to approve the ninth extension with a deadline to start construction set for November 16th. As that deadline approaches Touchstone is again coming before the Everett City Council at its meeting on November 7th to discuss the project. According to the Everett City Council agenda the item is a briefing with action requested at the following council meeting set for November 14th. The City and Touchstone first reached an agreement on the project back on October 16, 2008. The agreement has since been amended on April 14, 2009, October 7, 2009, February 10, 2010, June 16, 2010, August 16, 2010, November 10, 2010, January 7, 2011, August 24, 2011 with the latest amendment approved February 8, 2012.
