A reminder today from HistoryLink.org that on October 30, 1916, 41 members of the Industrial Workers of the World, known as Wobblies, were brutally beaten by citizen deputies in Everett’s Beverly Park neighborhood. The workers were protesting free speech restrictions put in place by the leaders of Everett. The beatings were the pre-cursor to the Everett Massacre that occurred six days later. Two Deputies and five Wobblies died in that gun battle on the Everett Waterfront. Visit HistoryLink.org for the full story.
