Badges for Baseball

While camp begins next week, sign ups for this year are full.

Last year we told you about Badges for Baseball where Everett Police, the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation team together to teach kids important life lessons along with a healthy dose of baseball. That program is back again this year with over 200 kids participating. It begins next Tuesday and runs to the end of the week. unfortunately the camp is full and they aren’t taking any more sign-ups.

Badges for Baseball was created in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice as a juvenile crime prevention initiative. It’s a simple concept: pair cops and kids to play baseball. The goal is to break down barriers between law enforcement and kids in communities across the country using baseball as the hook. Law enforcement officers become coaches and teach important lessons about teamwork, communication, respect and leadership. This is the second year for the camp in Everett.
