Naval Station Everett will operate as normal during the drill

This is only a test. That’s what you need to know if you’re in the vicinity of Naval Station Everett Wednesday and see a bunch of police and firefighters responding to the base. Base public affairs spokesperson Kristin Ching sent out the following press release this morning on what the Navy is calling ‘Reliant Cloud’…

Naval Station Everett will conduct base-wide exercise ‘Reliant Cloud’ on Wednesday, July 25. The training exercise will begin at 9 a.m. and involves an emergency response from the base along with City of Everett Fire and Police to a simulated release of toxic chemicals. The exercise will also require teamwork between the Navy’s Everett Branch Medical Clinic and community hospitals from Arlington and Edmonds as they treat mock injuries and casualties. Normal vehicle and pedestrian traffic through the base main gate will continue throughout the exercise.

The training is designed for emergency personnel practice coordinated responses and improve readiness prior to an actual emergency or disaster. Naval Station Everett is committed to coordinating with local community authorities in order to assist in response and recovery operations in times of crisis.
