Deputies Investigating Death of Inmate at Snohomish County Jail in Everett

a 22-year-old man booked by Lynnwood Police this morning has died at the Snohomish County jail

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the circumstances of an inmate who died this morning at the Snohomish County Jail in Everett. Sheriff’s Bureau Chief Kevin Prentiss issued the following news release this afternoon.

On July 3, 2012 at approximately 8:20am, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the Snohomish County Jail regarding a death investigation. Preliminary information indicates a male inmate, 22 years of age, approached a custody deputy at approximately 7:20am and requested medical attention. Shortly thereafter, the inmate collapsed to the floor. Emergency medical effort (CPR) was initiated by corrections staff and a call was placed to 9-1-1. Fire personnel transported the inmate to Providence Medical Center, where he died at approximately 7:40am. The inmate had been booked into the county jail by Lynnwood Police Department on July 2nd at approximately 11:45am on an outstanding warrant for of Possession of Marijuana.

Any information regarding identification and cause of death will be determined and released by the Medical Examiner’s Office at a later date.
