April 25, 2012

Everett Fire

Everett Fire received a call at about 10:20 this morning to Everest College at 906 SE Everett Mall Way. People on the 6th floor were reportedly becoming ill from some unknown smell. At first it started with two people, then three. A 4th student collapsed outside and finally 12 people were being treated by fire crews and medics. According to Everett Fire Investigator Eric Hicks, 11 people were transported to Providence Regional Medical Center and one other went by personal vehicle. The patients were complaining of dizziness, headaches and nausea. Officials still have not determined what caused the problem but Hicks says the building will be closed until an industrial hygienist can check the entire HVAC system.
