Update on North Everett Water Main Break, Broken Cast Iron Pipe from 1948

Everett

City of Everett public information director Kate Reardon just issued an update on the water main break near 8th and Waverly Avenue this afternoon. Here’s the word as of 8:10pm…

EVERETT – City crews have repaired a 12-inch water main in the 800 block of Waverly Avenue that broke at about 1 p.m. today.  The water is back in service.  Crews flushed the system as part of the repair, which has caused some sediment in the piping system to get stirred up.  As a result, some customers in the area may be experiencing some discoloring of their tap water for the next few hours.    The pipe in the system that broke is a 1948 cast iron pipe.

A quick tip: To flush out discolored water, turn on your outside faucet and let the water run clear.
