Everett Barista Dives Out Drive Thru Window to Escape Armed Intruder

Police Blotter

Not the way Cruisin Coffee baristas wanted to start their Small Business Saturday

About 6:30 this morning, a barista at the Cruisin Coffee Stand at 6500 Evergreen Way got a rude surprise when she was confronted inside the stand by an intruder with a knife. The intruder may have been just as surprised when the barista dove out the window of the drive thru. The startled intruder then fled the stand. The barista quickly grabbed a customer’s cell phone to call 9-1-1. Everett Police called in a K-9 and began patrolling neighborhoods. Using tips from early morning newspaper delivery people and trash collectors police located a suspect on Lower Ridge Road. The K-9 was able to track the suspect’s route from the coffee stand to Lower Ridge and the suspect was taken into custody. A sergeant at the scene told me they were still investigating what charges to file against the armed intruder.
