As the Everett City Council prepares to discuss an emergency ordinance on cooperative medical marijuana gardens, an Everett Real Estate agent has stopped advertising property for medical marijuana dispensaries. I saw this ad on Craigslist this weekend. It appeared the ad was placed by Rick Lapinski from John L. Scott Real Estate in South Everett. In researching tomorrow night’s City Council vote I was told by Everett Public Information director Kate Reardon that medical marijuana dispensaries are not recognized by the City of Everett. I spoke with Mr. Lipinski this morning and he told me the ad will be pulled. He said he’s not interested in breaking new ground and since Everett has now clearly stated that they will not recognize medical marijuana dispensaries, he’s not going to try to actively rent any space for them. Yesterday The Seattle Times reported that the Seattle City Council passed rules outlining requirements for medical marijuana dispensaries there. It will be interesting to see how the Everett City Council’s discussion about medical marijuana will go and whether the city of Everett takes any action against the dispensaries already with a business license to operate. Here’s a link to the two ordinances up for discussion. They are action items 6 and 7 on the agenda.
