The Everett Animal Shelter Needs Your Help

A tragic situation in Lake Stevens has led the Everett Animal Shelter to put out a call for cash and cleaning supplies. According to the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office a man living in the Lake Stevens area of unincorporated Snohomish County passed away last week. Deputies found him deceased during a welfare check after entering his home. Inside the home they found 35 dogs, 5 puppies, 6 cats and 6 birds. Most of the dogs were stacked up in crates and many of the animals had not been fed for three days. Since they have a contract with the Everett Animal Shelter, the Sheriff’s Office took the animals there for safekeeping and medical care. Since there appears to be no next of kin for the deceased gentleman, the Everett Shelter will likely adopt out the dogs and cats. In the mean time however, this extra influx of animals is putting a heavy strain on the shelter’s resources and they are requesting donations of cash and cleaning supplies. Here’s info. on that… The cost of seizing and treating animals rescued from these conditions severely impacts the budgets of all responding agencies. Citizens wishing to help can donate money for the ongoing medical expenses and the purchase of specific food to meet the special dietary needs of these animals by contacting the Everett Animal Shelter at 425-257-6000. The shelter accepts cash, check, debit and credit donations. The Everett Animal Shelter is located at 333 Smith Island Rd., Everett. Donations of liquid laundry detergent and bleach to help with the increased soiled bedding are also welcomed.

Check donations may also be sent by mail directly to the shelter’s nonprofit agency “ARF” (Animal Rescue Foundation) at PO Box 12817, Everett, WA 98206 or to the Snohomish County Animal Benefit Bequest Fund at 3000 Rockefeller Ave MS306, Everett, WA 98201.
