On his last day as police Chief, Jim Scharf has fired Officer Troy Meade for the shooting of Niles Meservey in June of 2009. Scharf says in the termination letter to Meade that he failed to comply with the Everett Police Department’s policies on the use of force. Meade has been on paid leave while awaiting this decision.
